Brooklyn Nets: The Brooklyn Nets are a professional basketball team based in the
New York City borough of Brooklyn. They are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association (NBA). The team is one of two NBA franchises playing in New York City,along with the New York Knicks. An original member of the American Basketball Association (ABA),the Nets were founded in 1967 and initially played in Teaneck,New Jersey as the New Jersey Americans. The franchise has since fallen back to less successful ways,playing to five consecutive losing seasons since 2007. On April 13,2012,the NBA Board of Governors unanimously approved the team's relocation to the Barclays Center,a new arena in Brooklyn,for the 2012?13 season. The move became official on April 30,and the team was renamed the Brooklyn Nets.
